The proportion of this age group living in the private rented sector increased from 13% in 1999 to 41% in 2015. Following this, the proportion of private tenants in this age group fell slightly in 2018, and remained at a similar level of 38% in 2019. The proportion of owner occupier households where the highest income earner is 16 to 34 years old increased from 30% in 2014 to 38% in 2019.
